Last week I was in Mexico as a visiting professor at a big international post-graduate course.

My lectures were in English and were being translated into Spanish for the audience. The first two lectures went well.

I was introduced for the third lecture.

As I said "good morning ladies and gentlemen", I was interrupted by the moderator who told me and the audience we would have to delay the meeting for an hour.

Naturally, I asked why.

THE TRANSLATOR HAD GONE TO BREAKFAST!!

Wonderful!! No fuss, no bother, no complaints.

After the translator had eaten, he took his place at my side and we proceeded.

"I remember well being a visitor to a very small hospital.
I arrived at 10.00 pm. They had forgotten to pick me up!!
The lone taxi went home at 9:00 and the airport closed at 10:10pm.
The local constabulary was there to save the day!"
